Public Comments
We submit comments to proposed federal and state rules that impact low income and vulnerable Arizonans. Some of our recent comments include the following:
- Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing under the Federal Fair Housing Act
- Expanding Child Nutrition Programs in Schools
- Tenant Screening Consumer Protections for Rental Housing Applicants
- RIN 0584-AE57, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program ("SNAP"): Requirements for Able-Bodied Adults without Dependents
Objections to AHCCCS Waiver Requests
As required by law, AHCCCS submitted Medicaid Section 1115 waivers to the Centers for Medicaid and Medicaid (“CMS”) to allow Arizona’s Medicaid program to impose additional requirements on recipients, including work requirements for “able-bodied” adults. AHCCCS also asked to be allowed to eliminate retroactive coverage for newly approved applicants. On behalf of the Institute and other advocates, we submitted comments in opposition to these requests.
